BURDA 6933 MENS TROUSERS

Finally found a bit of time to make a project for myself, so I've decided on a pair of these...
BURDA 6933 MENS TROUSERS (Suiting fabric and pattern purchased from Minerva Crafts)

Saturday (28.06.2014)
Cut out the pattern according to my waist/saddle measurements and proceeded to altered the pattern to suit my leg length, as I am an extremely tall dwarf , standing at 6' 4" small.
Pattern cut outs were positioned on the pre-washed (and ironed) fabric. I tend to pin these down temporarily although this does piece your pattern somewhat. I have tried to use pattern weights in the past, but have found these still allow slippage/ movement.

I continued to chalk out the pieces (my favourite bit of the "pre-sewing" tasks)

Then cut out all pieces.

Hopefully this week will be kind to me and allow me enough time to commence the basting process..

  1. That chalking looks very professional - I just tend to reach for the scissors and not the chalk. I'm intrigued by the pattern as the views look identical apart from the pressed creases. I look forward to your next update.

    1. Apologies SewLittleToSay , I did respond to your post but my firewall settings prevented it from uploading and I've only just realised :-(

I tend to chalk rather than "pin and cut", as I personally find it provides a cleaner, easier cut and prevents the pattern from getting torn during the process. Also, one day I hope to be able to "free hand" patterns out... so also get a bit of practice working with the chalk and fabric combination. I've made a bit more progress with the trousers and will update the blog shortly. Ps Thank you for your comment :-)
