About Me

My name is Drew, I live in the a small town near Manchester, I work for a engineering company as a draughtsman, have a beautiful wife and two beautiful children and enjoy a "proper" pint of real ale on occasions. Suppose you could say I am just a regular bloke, well... all except for the small matter that I like to sew.

This all started roughly about a year ago, when I bought a vintage 1965 411G Singer Sewing machine for my wife's Birthday and thought it would be good idea to get familiar with the machine, so it didn't seem too daunting at first for her and subsequently put her off. However, what I wasn't expecting was that I actually enjoyed using the machine and to cut a very long story short, I have been sewing (or attempting to) ever since.

I have a true passion for vintage style sewing and try to use original methods wherever I can. My machine of choice is a hand cranked Singer 28K, which I tend to use for most projects these days.

Another hobby of mine is restoring, repairing and servicing these vintage machines. Some of you may be aware of the "Back to Black Singers"  I set up to fuel my passion for these machines and I am currently creating a new webpage to promote this business and bring life back to all those "ornaments" everyone has sat about their homes and sewing rooms.

So watch this space!

I have been meaning to set up this blog for some time now as I have found this
